PJ Police Use Drone in Ops Motosikal to Curb Highway Offences

The Petaling Jaya (PJ) district police headquarters launched a traffic enforcement operation, Ops Motosikal, on the Federal Highway today, deploying drone technology to monitor and reduce motorcycle-related fatalities. The operation took place at kilometer 28.4 of the highway.

During the operation, authorities issued a total of 47 summonses for various violations under the Road Transport Act 1987 and Road Traffic Rules 1959. Of these, 16 summonses were issued based on footage captured by the police Drone Unit. Offences included illegal vehicle modifications, riding without a licence, not wearing helmets, ignoring traffic signals, expired road tax, using mobile devices while driving, failing to wear seat belts, missing brake lights, and obstructing traffic.

PJ police reported a positive response from the public toward the initiative and confirmed plans for more drone-assisted traffic operations in the future. Present at the scene were PJ district police chief ACP Shahrulnizam Ja’afar, Selangor Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (JSPT) head Supt Edward Kondokor, PJ deputy police chief Supt M. Hussin Sollehuddin Zolkifly, JSPT enforcement head ASP Harun bin Omar, along with other traffic enforcement personnel.
