XPENG Malaysia Recalls 481 X9 Electric MPVs Over Air Suspension Issue, Offers Free Replacement and 8-Year Warranty

XPENG has announced a voluntary safety recall involving selected X9 battery electric MPVs (BEVs) in Malaysia, with 481 vehicles identified as affected.

The recall applies only to XPENG X9 models manufactured before 11 August 2025, while vehicles produced after that date are not affected.

The initiative is part of the company’s proactive commitment to maintaining vehicle reliability, customer confidence, and long-term ownership satisfaction.

What Is the Issue?

According to XPENG, the recall is related to the front air suspension system.

Due to manufacturing process variations, certain front air springs may gradually develop air leaks after extended operation in high-temperature and high-humidity environments.

If the issue occurs, owners may notice:

  • Air suspension warning light appearing on the instrument cluster
  • Warning messages displayed on the infotainment screen
  • Reduced suspension height
  • Changes in ride comfort and driving quality

XPENG emphasized that the recall is being carried out voluntarily before the issue becomes more widespread.

Owners Will Receive Free Repairs

To resolve the issue, affected owners will receive a complete front air suspension replacement at no cost.

The repair includes replacement of:

  • Front air spring strut assemblies
  • Air supply unit
  • Air supply unit valve block
  • Air reservoir

All replacement work, parts, and labour will be fully covered by XPENG.

Extended 8-Year Warranty Included

Beyond the free repair, XPENG is also providing owners with an extended warranty covering the front air suspension system for up to 8 years or 160,000 km, whichever comes first.

The extended warranty is transferable to future owners of eligible 2025 and 2026 model year XPENG X9 vehicles, adding further value for current and prospective owners.

What Should Owners Do?

XPENG advises owners of affected vehicles to contact their nearest authorised service centre and schedule an appointment as soon as possible.

In the meantime, owners may continue driving their vehicles if no warning indicators are present. However, if any suspension warning appears or unusual vehicle behaviour is noticed, owners should immediately arrange an inspection.

XPENG is working together with Bermaz Auto to contact all affected customers directly while coordinating replacement parts and repair scheduling to ensure the recall process is completed efficiently.

A Proactive Step Towards Customer Confidence

Vehicle recalls are becoming increasingly common across the automotive industry, particularly as manufacturers continuously improve product quality through real-world feedback.

Rather than waiting for problems to escalate, XPENG’s voluntary recall demonstrates a proactive approach to customer care by offering free repairs alongside an extended warranty, providing greater peace of mind for X9 owners in Malaysia.

Owners are encouraged to verify whether their vehicle falls within the affected production period and arrange servicing promptly to ensure optimal vehicle performance and safety.
