Porsche Taycan Turbo GT 2024 Launches in Malaysia: High-Performance EV with 1,108 PS/1,340 Nm, Priced at RM1.16 Million

Four months after setting a record-breaking Nürburgring lap time of 7 minutes 7.55 seconds, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT has arrived in Malaysia. Positioned as the pinnacle of Porsche’s electric sports sedan lineup, it commands a starting price of RM1.16 million, making it RM100,000 more expensive than the Turbo S.

Based on the recently updated Taycan model, the Turbo GT significantly boosts performance while retaining its dual-motor configuration (unlike competitors such as the Tesla Model S Plaid and Lucid Air Sapphire which use triple motors). The rear motor has been enhanced to achieve a combined output of 789 PS (580 kW), with an overboost function that briefly pushes power to 1,033 PS (760 kW) when launch control is engaged.

Peak performance numbers reach an astonishing 1,108 PS (815 kW) and 1,340 Nm of torque – an increase of 156 PS and 230 Nm over the Turbo S. Notably, the new Attack Mode, an evolution of the push-to-pass feature, provides an extra 163 PS (120 kW) for short bursts, activated via a button on the steering wheel or paddle shifters.

Despite marginal gains in acceleration over the Turbo S (0-100 km/h in 2.3 seconds), the Turbo GT excels at higher speeds, shaving more than a second off the 0-200 km/h sprint, achieved in just 6.6 seconds. Its top speed is also higher at 290 km/h.

In addition to its performance enhancements, the Turbo GT focuses on weight reduction, featuring carbon fiber components like B-pillar trim, door mirror caps, and side sill plates. Standard equipment includes carbon bucket seats, lighter boot trim, and forged 21-inch alloy wheels with brake cooling reliefs. However, despite these efforts, it only sheds five kilograms compared to the Turbo S, weighing in at 2,290 kg.

For greater weight savings, the optional Weissach Package removes rear seats, reduces insulation, and replaces some components with lighter alternatives, resulting in a 70 kg reduction to 2,220 kg. This variant accelerates quicker and boasts a higher top speed, aided by additional aerodynamic enhancements and a unique badge.

Externally, the Turbo GT features a sporty stance with Porsche Active Ride air suspension, enhanced by a prominent front splitter and an active rear spoiler with a carbon fiber Gurney flap. The Weissach Package enhances aerodynamics further with a fixed rear wing, underbody deflectors, and a front diffuser, generating up to 220 kg of downforce.

Inside, the Turbo GT offers a luxurious interior with leather and Race-Tex microfiber upholstery, carbon fiber accents, and special “Turbo GT” embroidery on the seats. The Weissach Package adds another badge to signify its enhanced performance credentials.
