Jaecoo J7 Debuts in Malaysia with 2WD and AWD Options, Featuring Seven-Year, 150,000 km Warranty Starting at RM139k
Jaecoo, a subsidiary of Chery, has launched its new J7 SUV in Malaysia today. The model is available in two variants: the J7 2WD priced at RM138,800 and the J7 AWD priced at RM148,800. Both variants are locally assembled (CKD) in Shah Alam, Selangor.
The J7 comes with a comprehensive warranty package including a seven-year, 150,000 km mileage warranty and an early bird offer featuring a 10-year, one-million km engine warranty (terms and conditions apply).
Based on the Chery Tiggo 7 platform, the J7 measures 4,500 mm in length, 1,865 mm in width, and 1,680 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,672 mm. It competes in size with vehicles like the Toyota Corolla Cross and is slightly smaller than the Mazda CX-5.
For off-road capabilities, the J7 offers a ground clearance of 200 mm, a wading depth of 600 mm, and approach and departure angles of 21 degrees and 29 degrees, respectively.
Both variants are powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol inline-four cylinder engine producing 194 hp and 290 Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission by Getrag. The AWD variant additionally offers seven driving modes: Eco, Normal, Sports, Sand, Mud, Snowfield, and Off-road.
Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes 9.9 seconds for the AWD and 9.2 seconds for the 2WD variant. Both have a top speed of 180 km/h and achieve fuel consumption ratings of 7.7l/100 km (AWD) and 7.0l/100 km (2WD).
In terms of payload capacity, the J7 can tow up to 1,300 kg and its roof can support up to 75 kg, with a luggage compartment capacity of 412 liters.
Features for both variants include 19-inch ‘Aurora’ two-tone alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, dual-tier LED headlamps, and a powered tailgate. Inside, there’s leather upholstery, climatised front seats, dual-zone climate control with rear vents, a 50-watt air-cooled wireless charger, 64-colour ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof. Technology features include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Safety features are extensive and include a 540-Degree Panoramic Camera (AVM), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), and many more advanced driver assistance systems.
The Jaecoo J7 is backed by a seven-year, 150,000 km mileage warranty in Malaysia, along with round-the-clock roadside assistance. It is available in four exterior colors: Model Green, Khaki White, Carbon Crystal Black, and Moonlight Silver.
