Lotus Emeya Malaysia: A high-performance electric grand tourer featuring 905 horsepower, a 610 km range, 400 kW DC fast charging capability, with a starting price of RM555,000.
Following a brief preview at Pavilion KL earlier this month, Lotus Cars Malaysia has officially introduced the Lotus Emeya to the Malaysian market. This new fully-electric sports sedan is Lotus’s third EV in Malaysia, joining the Lotus Electre SUV and the highly exclusive RM16 million Lotus Evija hypercar.
In Malaysia, the Emeya is available in three variants. Here are the on-the-road prices for each variant, excluding road tax and insurance:
- Lotus Emeya: RM555,000
- Lotus Emeya S: RM643,000
- Lotus Emeya R: RM777,000
Each Emeya is accompanied by a 5-year / 150,000km warranty and there is also a separate 8-year / 200,000km warranty for its high-voltage battery.
The EV is generally available in Solar Yellow, Kaimu Grey, Akoya White, Stellar Black, Fireglow Orange, and Boreal Grey. However, customers also have the option to customize the Emeya to their personal preferences.
All Emeya models come with an all-wheel drive system, though performance varies by variant. The standard Emeya and Emeya S each deliver a total power output of 450 kW (603 hp) and 710 Nm of peak torque.
Both variants can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h. If these figures aren’t quite impressive enough for you, there’s always the Emeya R.
The Emeya R boasts a significantly higher power output of 675 kW (905 hp) and a maximum torque of 985 Nm. With a top speed of 256 km/h, this variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a remarkable 2.8 seconds.
As a grand tourer, the Emeya is also designed for long distances, equipped with a substantial 102 kWh battery. The standard Emeya and Emeya S offer a range of up to 610 km, given their identical power configurations. In contrast, the Emeya R, with its higher performance, has a somewhat lower range of up to 485 km.
Despite its large battery, the Emeya charges quickly via DC charging. With its 800V architecture, it takes approximately 18 minutes to charge the EV from 10% to 80% using a 350 kW DC charger.
Lotus has also stated that the Emeya can support DC charging up to 400 kW, reducing the 10%-80% charging time to just 14 minutes. This applies to the units available in Malaysia.
For AC charging, the Emeya is equipped with a 22 kW onboard charger. It takes approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes to fully charge the electric grand tourer.
