Honda Malaysia Unveils First All‑Electric SUV: e:N1

Kuala Lumpur, May 15, 2025 — Honda Malaysia has launched its first battery electric vehicle (BEV), the e:N1, marking a major milestone in its local electrification efforts. This fully electric SUV, considered the EV counterpart of the HR-V, is priced from RM149,900 on the road (excluding insurance).

Key Specs & Features

  • Powertrain: 150 kW electric motor, 310 Nm torque
  • Battery: 68.8 kWh lithium-ion
  • Range: Up to 425 km (WLTP), approx. 500 km (NEDC)
  • Charging:
    • AC up to 10 kW (10–80% in ~6 hours)
    • DC fast charging up to 78 kW (30–80% in ~50 minutes)

    • 4,380 mm (L), 1,790 mm (W), 1,592 mm (H), 2,610 mm wheelbase, 344 L boot

The e:N1 also features a 15-inch infotainment screen, 10.25-inch digital cluster, and Honda Sensing ADAS with adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and collision mitigation.

It’s available in Platinum White Pearl, Urban Gray Pearl, and Aqua Topaz Metallic, and includes a 3-year/100,000 km vehicle warranty and an 8-year/160,000 km battery and drivetrain warranty.

Market Reception
Before its official launch, Honda had already received 200 bookings. First deliveries are expected by mid-June, but limited initial supply—only a few hundred units—may quickly run out. Eight authorised EV dealers are now prepared to handle sales and servicing.

Strategic Context

  • Honda aims to introduce three new EV models in Malaysia by 2027.
  • The company is also advocating for continued CKD incentives beyond 2027 to sustain local EV manufacturing and meet the national EV sales target of 15% by 2030.

Final Thoughts
The e:N1 showcases Honda’s EV direction with a well-rounded offering: long range, modern features, quick charging, and a reliable brand image. While it’s priced near high-spec hybrids like the HR-V e:HEV RS, high demand and limited availability may make it tough to get one in the early stages.
