Malaysia Autoshow 2025 Smashes Records with RM1.72 Billion in Potential Sales and Nearly 300,000 Visitors

SERDANG, 19 May 2025 – The Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025) wrapped up with historic achievements, registering an estimated RM1.72 billion in potential sales and drawing a record-breaking crowd of 294,062 attendees. This year’s edition stands as the largest and most impactful in the event’s history, reinforcing Malaysia’s role as a leader in future mobility within the ASEAN region.

Hosted by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) and backed by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), MAS 2025 took place from 9 to 15 May at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS). Themed “Shifting the Future,” the show brought together over 200 exhibitors and displayed more than 500 vehicles across an expansive 50,000 square metres.

A total of 3,194 vehicle bookings and 1,512 trade-in opportunities were recorded, alongside 18,824 valuable sales leads – a strong indicator of growing consumer interest and confidence in the automotive sector. The seven-day event was extended by two extra days to accommodate the surge in visitor numbers, resulting in a 31% increase compared to the 2024 edition.

MAS 2025 featured 48 new vehicle launches and previews, with an impressive 10,916 test drives conducted on the dedicated outdoor track. Notably, over half of the showcased models were electrified vehicles (EVs, PHEVs, and HEVs), reflecting the nation’s accelerating transition toward sustainable transport.

In a significant move for green mobility, the Voluntary NxGV Labelling Scheme was officially introduced during the show. This initiative aims to certify vehicles that meet Malaysia’s stringent criteria for innovation, environmental friendliness, and safety.

A major highlight was the ASEAN Unity Drive 2025 – a pioneering EV convoy covering 10,432 kilometres across nine ASEAN countries. Featuring Proton’s e.MAS 7 and X Series, the journey emphasized the viability of long-distance electric vehicle travel across the region. Recognised by ASEAN Records, the drive showcased growing regional cooperation in harmonising EV standards and infrastructure.

MAS 2025 also served as a platform for public education and engagement. Themed days like Education Day, Women’s Day, and Green Day provided immersive, hands-on experiences for families, students, and professionals alike. Adding a futuristic edge were live demonstrations of Urban Air Mobility concepts, offering a glimpse into eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) technologies that could transform transportation in the years ahead.

Another technological breakthrough unveiled was ADaPTIV, a predictive vehicle intelligence platform developed through a MARii–PETRONAS collaboration. This innovation is designed to enhance vehicle performance, reduce operational downtime, and increase reliability—particularly valuable for commercial fleets.

During the closing ceremony, MARii Chairman Datuk Dr. Aminar Rashid extended his appreciation to key partners and stakeholders including Proton, Perodua, Honda, Chery, Modenas, and ORS Technologies for their support in driving the event’s success.

MARii CEO Azrul Reza Aziz stated, “This year’s Autoshow wasn’t just about showcasing cars—it was about connecting innovation with people and advancing the nation’s transformation toward smarter, greener mobility.”

MITI Minister, YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Abdul Aziz, emphasized the Autoshow’s alignment with Malaysia’s broader strategic priorities. “With our ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025 and position as the region’s second-largest automotive market, Malaysia is well-placed to lead the charge in clean vehicle technologies and build a future-ready mobility ecosystem.”

Looking ahead, the Malaysia Autoshow is set to return in 2027, potentially with a fresh venue and upgraded experience. The event is expected to continue evolving as Southeast Asia’s leading showcase for automotive innovation and sustainable transport.
