Flying Flea and Mattia Biagi Unveil ‘Motototem’ – A First-of-Its-Kind Art Bike at Salone del Mobile 2025

Milan, April 2025 – In a stunning fusion of design, craftsmanship, and innovation, Flying Flea – the new electric two-wheeler brand from Royal Enfield – has partnered with internationally acclaimed artist Mattia Biagi to debut an extraordinary art bike named Motototem. The one-off masterpiece was unveiled at this year’s Salone del Mobile during Milan Design Week, and will tour globally throughout 2025.
Based on the Flying Flea FF.C6 model, Motototem is a bold reinterpretation of the electric motorcycle, transforming it into a sculptural work of art. Biagi, known for his material-driven conceptual creations, infused the FF.C6 with a variety of organic materials – including travertine, clay, bronze, stone, leather, and hand-blown glass – to create a piece that speaks both to nature and mobility.
An Artistic Reimagining of Motorcycle Design
Motototem retains the timeless silhouette of the FF.C6, which itself is inspired by the original Flying Flea motorcycles of the 1940s. But Biagi’s reimagination dives much deeper. Each design element carries symbolic meaning, making the bike more than just a machine – it’s a story on wheels.
The handlebar grips and footpegs are replaced with bronze castings imprinted with the artist’s fingerprints, emphasizing the human connection. Glass sculptures, meticulously hand-blown, replace the original LED head and tail lights – symbolizing the fragile beauty found in overcoming life’s challenges.

At the heart of the piece lies a travertine tank, sunken into the forged aluminum frame, shaped to resemble a parachute. This directly honors the original Flying Flea, which was famously air-dropped by parachute during wartime missions.
A Dialogue Between Nature and Machine
Throughout the design, Biagi has connected the motorcycle to nature with stunning subtlety. Clear resin fenders feature cast leaves representing growth and renewal. The seat, now crafted from solid walnut, adds a warm, earthy contrast to the industrial frame. Clay inserts in the girder forks playfully mimic traditional scrambler fork guards.

The rear belt guard features organic, floral-inspired shapes – a metaphor for the blooming of new ideas. The magnesium battery case, with its sculptural fins and embedded black stone, bridges the past and the future. Meanwhile, the leather swallow motifs on the off-road tires symbolize homecoming, loyalty, and the fearless spirit of exploration.
Beyond Customization: Into the Realm of Art
While Royal Enfield has long been a canvas for motorcycle customization, Motototem marks a bold leap into the world of fine art. As Mario Alvisi, Chief Growth Officer for Electric Vehicles at Royal Enfield, puts it:
“Motototem captures the spirit of Flying Flea in a way that feels both instinctive and unexpected. It reflects the brand’s philosophy of thoughtful simplicity, intelligent design and elegance in motion—through a language that’s purely emotional and beautifully sculptural.”
What’s Next for Motototem?
Following its global debut in Milan, Motototem will continue its journey around the world with exhibitions and showcases scheduled for the rest of 2025. More information and updates can be found at flyingflea.royalenfield.com and on Flying Flea’s official Instagram page.
