PENANG AND JOHOR AUTOSHOWS TO BE HELD IN 2026, TO EXPAND REACH TO MORE MALAYSIANS

KUALA LUMPUR, 14 November 2025 — The upcoming Penang Autoshow 2026 and Johor Autoshow 2026 was announced today, further expanding the footprint of the Malaysia Autoshow series to deliver advanced automotive technologies to more regions across Malaysia.
The Penang Autoshow 2026 is scheduled for May 2026 , followed by the Johor Autoshow 2026 in August 2026. These regional editions will bring manufacturers, technology providers, and mobility solutions directly to local communities — enabling Malaysians in northern and southern regions to experience cutting-edge vehicle technologies, electric mobility and sustainable innovations firsthand.

Penang and Johor were selected as the first locations for the expansion due to their strategic importance in Malaysia’s automotive landscape, particularly in the increase of new energy vehicles within these states. These events are designed to replicate the immersive experience seen at MAEPS, bringing the same scale of engagement and innovation to regional audiences.
Penang, long recognised as a centre for advanced manufacturing and technology, continues to drive innovation and is rapidly becoming a hub for sustainable mobility and EV adoption. Johor, as a major industrial and logistics gateway to ASEAN markets, offers significant opportunities for cross-border collaboration, industry growth, and automotive development.
“While in 2026, the Malaysia Autoshow will take a step back to give way to the Malaysian Automotive Association as they host the prestigious Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS 2026). However, our mission remains unchanged. The drive to bring the latest automotive innovations closer to Malaysians will not stop at one venue or one city,” said En. Azrul Reza Aziz, MARii Chief Executive Officer.
“At the same time, the Penang Autoshow and Johor Autoshow 2026 are an extension of the mission to ensure that people in every region have access to new generation vehicle technology, electric mobility and sustainable innovation. With this approach, we are not only expanding our reach, but also strengthening the development of the national automotive ecosystem in a more inclusive manner in line with the National Automotive Policy 2020.” Said Mr. Azrul Reza Aziz, Chief Executive Officer of MARii.
The Penang Autoshow & Johor Autoshow Soft Launch announcement was made during the soft launch at the Global Automotive & Technology Expo (GATE) 2025, held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

The regional events will feature leading automotive brands that will showcase their latest models and technologies, highlighting advancements in electric mobility, safety systems, and design innovation that reflect Malaysia’s growing enthusiasm for next-generation vehicles.
The regional editions will also feature exciting activities for visitors, including dedicated test drive routes, car gatherings, and auto fashion shows that celebrate the culture and lifestyle surrounding the automotive industry. More activities and experiential showcases will be announced in the coming months as plans for both events progress.

The Malaysia Autoshow 2025 set a new ASEAN record as the largest and most successful edition to date, attracting nearly 300,000 visitors and generating RM1.72 billion in potential sales. The event featured over 200 exhibitors and more than 500 vehicle models, including a strong representation of electric and hybrid vehicles — a clear indication of Malaysia’s growing strength and readiness in the mobility ecosystem.
