EV Future Accelerates: NEA Brings 450kW Chargers and Smart AC Systems to Malaysia

New Energy Asia (NEA) has officially been established as a joint venture between Hicom Engineering and Hangzhou Flash Charging (HFC) to distribute a full range of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions across Malaysia and the broader ASEAN region.
HFC, a subsidiary of Lotus Technology, manufactures a wide portfolio of charging equipment, which NEA will now be responsible for distributing. The product lineup includes both AC chargers and DC fast chargers, designed to cater to residential, commercial, and industrial needs.
Among the highlight products are its DC chargers, which come in two types:
- Air-cooled DC chargers with power output ranging from 30 kW to 240 kW
- Liquid-cooled DC chargers, offering ultra-fast output of 300 kW to 450 kW
The latter is capable of supporting high-performance EVs such as the Lotus Emeya, which can accept up to 400 kW, enabling rapid charging from 10% to 80% in just 14 minutes.
In addition to DC solutions, NEA will also offer AC smart chargers with configurable output levels of 7.4 kW, 11 kW, and 22 kW, making them suitable for both home and workplace charging needs. Hicom Engineering also revealed that NEA will provide advanced energy storage systems in response to rising demand for integrated energy solutions.
Although the current product line carries Lotus branding, NEA also has the rights to distribute these chargers under a white-label model. This enables broader market access for businesses wishing to serve EV users beyond Lotus car owners.
At present, NEA’s operations will focus solely on business-to-business (B2B) distribution and aftersales support, and it does not intend to function as a Charge Point Operator (CPO).
Looking ahead, while charging hardware will initially be imported from China, NEA plans to begin local assembly in Tanjung Malim’s Automotive Hi-Tech Valley (AHTV). This move is expected within 18 to 24 months of product launch in Malaysia.
The launch of NEA also witnessed the signing of memoranda of collaboration with:
- Future Fuelling Malaysia
- Pro-Net
- Malakoff Green Solutions
These strategic partnerships are expected to further drive the development of clean mobility solutions, foster innovation in charging technology, and support both passenger and commercial EV segments, Hicom Engineering stated.
