KUALA LUMPUR, 18 July 2025 – OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia has officially introduced its latest flagship SUV, the JAECOO J8, promising a blend of luxury, technology, and true off-road capabilities. With the slogan “Off Road First Class”, this new model marks the brand’s most advanced offering to date.
Celebrating exactly one year since the introduction of the J7, the JAECOO J8 arrives as a symbol of the brand’s growing presence in Malaysia. According to Emily Lek, Vice President of OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia, over 17,000 OMODA and JAECOO vehicles are already on Malaysian roads. “The J8 elevates everything customers expect from a premium SUV, from its design to its driving experience,” she said.
Sophisticated Design Meets Practicality
Measuring 4,820 mm in length and standing tall at 1,710 mm, the JAECOO J8 stands out with its imposing front grille, sleek lines, and hidden door handles for better aerodynamics. Dual-tone 20-inch wheels complete the modern, rugged look, ready for urban streets or off-road escapes.
Powerful Turbocharged Performance
Under the hood, both the 2WD and AWD variants share a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. This engine delivers 183 kW and 385 Nm of torque, offering both strong highway performance and off-road reliability. Intelligent AWD with torque vectoring ensures the J8 remains stable even on unpredictable terrain. With 0-100 km/h in under nine seconds, this SUV balances performance with efficiency.
Next-Level Comfort and Technology
The JAECOO J8’s interior focuses on comfort without sacrificing practicality. Buyers can choose between the five-seater 2WD or the six-seater AWD model. The third-row seats in the AWD variant can be folded flat to expand cargo space, while the 2WD variant prioritises boot space for daily needs.
Inside, the J8 showcases dual 12.3-inch displays and a head-up display (HUD), offering both modern design and easy access to driving information. Luxury touches include heated, ventilated, and massaging seats, ambient lighting, and premium Sony sound systems — 12 speakers in the 2WD and a 14-speaker setup with headrest speakers in the AWD.
Unique features like an NFC keyless entry system, built-in fragrance diffuser, and wireless smartphone charging with cooling highlight the J8’s attention to detail. A continuous damping suspension system ensures a smooth ride, even on challenging roads.
Prioritising Safety with Advanced ADAS
Safety-wise, the J8 features an extensive Level 2.5 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), offering adaptive cruise control, lane-change assistance, automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alerts, and a fully automatic parking system in the AWD variant. A sophisticated brake-by-wire system enhances braking response and overall vehicle safety.
Locally Assembled, Nationally Focused
The JAECOO J8 will be assembled locally at Chery Corporate Malaysia’s plant in Shah Alam, reinforcing the brand’s investment in Malaysia’s automotive industry.
Pricing and Availability
Prices are expected to start from RM195,000 for the 2WD five-seater, while the AWD six-seater version is estimated around RM220,000. Early bird customers are likely to enjoy special packages, with deliveries for the AWD variant beginning this month and the 2WD variant following soon after.
