2025 Triumph Scrambler 400 XC Officially Unveiled as Brand’s New Mid-Size Off-Road Contender

Triumph Motorcycles has expanded its lineup with the global unveiling of the 2025 Scrambler 400 XC. Positioned as a rugged yet accessible mid-capacity motorcycle, the Scrambler 400 XC brings a new level of off-road capability to the brand’s growing modern classic segment.
Slotting in alongside the already-available Scrambler 400 X and Speed 400 in Triumph’s small-capacity lineup, the Scrambler 400 XC is engineered for riders who want something more adventurous than just city commuting. While Malaysian pricing has yet to be confirmed for the new XC variant, its sibling, the Scrambler 400 X, retails at RM29,900, with the Speed 400 priced at RM26,900.

Built for the Trail – and Beyond
The Scrambler 400 XC is visually and mechanically tailored for light off-road riding. Key features include:
- Spoked Wheels (Tubeless): 19-inch front and 17-inch rear, perfect for absorbing uneven terrain.
- Long-Travel Suspension: 150 mm travel front and rear, delivered via 43 mm upside-down front forks (non-adjustable) and a rear monoshock with preload adjustability and an external gas reservoir.
- Ergonomics: A comfortable seat height of 835 mm and a kerb weight of 186 kg (fully fuelled) ensures a manageable yet planted feel on and off the road.
- Braking System: Front braking is handled by a 320 mm disc with a four-piston radial caliper, while the rear uses a 230 mm disc with a single-piston floating caliper. Dual-channel ABS is fitted as standard.

Familiar Power with Scrambler DNA
Powering the Scrambler 400 XC is Triumph’s TR-series engine, the same unit found in the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X. This 398 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine delivers:
- Output: 39.5 hp at 8,000 rpm
- Torque: 37.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm
- Transmission: Six-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch for smoother shifting and reduced rider fatigue
- Final Drive: Chain

The powertrain configuration makes it a well-balanced choice for both urban riders and those who seek occasional adventure trails.
Rider-Centric Tech and Design

Inside the cockpit, Triumph has integrated modern touches without compromising the bike’s retro appeal. Riders will find:
- Instrument Cluster: A large analogue speedometer paired with an LCD multifunction display that includes gear position, fuel range, and a digital tachometer.
- Charging Port: A USB-C outlet is available for on-the-go device charging.
- Controls: Handlebar-mounted access to screen functions, placing convenience at your fingertips.
Styling and Colour Options
The Scrambler 400 XC debuts in three distinct colour schemes:
- Racing Yellow
- Storm Grey
- Vanilla White
Each variant is paired with a black Triumph tank logo, black tank infills with knee pads, and a black split seat for the rider and pillion. The design reflects Triumph’s commitment to a clean yet rugged aesthetic that appeals to both classic and modern sensibilities.

Final Thoughts
With the Scrambler 400 XC, Triumph continues its push into the competitive entry-to-mid level segment while offering a machine that stays true to its scrambler heritage. For riders who want something practical, engaging, and trail-capable without going to extremes, the Scrambler 400 XC looks set to deliver a compelling balance of character and capability.
