KUALA LUMPUR, 29 SEPTEMBER 2026 – Chery Malaysia has given motorists their first look at the upcoming Tiggo Cross Sport Edition, a new variant that brings a sportier exterior treatment to the brand’s popular B-SUV lineup.
Set to make its official Malaysian debut next month, the Tiggo Cross Sport Edition is based on the existing Tiggo Cross Turbo, with the new variant distinguished primarily by a series of exterior styling upgrades.
While Chery Malaysia has yet to reveal the full specification sheet, the first preview points towards a more aggressive appearance rather than a comprehensive facelift or mechanical update.
A sportier look for the Tiggo Cross
The most obvious changes can be found at both ends of the vehicle.
Up front, the Tiggo Cross Sport Edition receives a redesigned lower lip with additional side elements that give the front bumper a more pronounced and dynamic appearance.
At the rear, the lower bumper has been revised with a new diffuser-style insert featuring twin chrome-finished exhaust outlet surrounds. At this stage, Chery Malaysia has not confirmed whether these elements represent functional exhaust outlets or are primarily decorative styling pieces.
Adding to the visual distinction is a Sport badge with a red-highlighted ‘S’ mounted on the tailgate.
Interestingly, several familiar elements appear to have been retained from the Turbo variant, including the roof rails, rear spoiler and 18-inch alloy wheels. Chery has yet to confirm whether there are additional exterior or interior changes that have not been shown in the initial preview.
Interior details remain under wraps
For now, the cabin of the Tiggo Cross Sport Edition remains a mystery.
The standard Tiggo Cross Turbo features a modern dashboard layout centred around dual 10.25-inch displays, serving as the digital instrument cluster and infotainment interface, while the climate-control functions are integrated into the central display system.
Whether the Sport Edition receives unique upholstery, contrasting trim, Sport-specific badging or other interior enhancements remains to be seen.
Chery is expected to reveal the complete equipment list closer to the model’s official launch.
Turbo powertrain expected to carry over
Mechanically, the Sport Edition is expected to retain the powertrain from the existing Tiggo Cross Turbo.
The current Turbo variant is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 147 hp and 210 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
The standard Turbo is capable of completing the 0–100 km/h sprint in a claimed 10.3 seconds.
At present, Chery Malaysia has not announced any mechanical changes for the Sport Edition, meaning the new variant appears to focus primarily on giving the Tiggo Cross a more distinctive visual identity.
Pricing and launch details to come
The current Tiggo Cross range in Malaysia comprises the Turbo and Hybrid variants, priced at approximately RM89,000 and RM100,000 respectively, before taking into account selected promotional campaigns.
With the Sport Edition positioned above the standard Turbo in terms of styling and equipment, its final pricing will be one of the key details to watch when Chery officially launches the model.
Chery Malaysia has confirmed that the Tiggo Cross Sport Edition will be introduced in Malaysia next month, with the full specifications, pricing and availability to be announced closer to launch.
The company has also revealed that the new Sport Edition will feature as the grand prize for the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Legends Season 18 campaign, marking an additional connection between the new model and Chery Malaysia’s ongoing involvement in sports and esports-related activities.
For now, the biggest question remains simple: how much will Chery charge for a sportier-looking Tiggo Cross Turbo?
That answer should arrive when the Tiggo Cross Sport Edition officially makes its Malaysian debut next month.
