Honda CR-V (2026) Launched in Malaysia – Hybrid Now Starts from RM178k, Two e:HEV Variants for the First Time

Honda Malaysia has officially refreshed its sixth-generation CR-V line-up for 2026, and while the changes may look subtle on the surface, the shift in strategy is anything but small.
For the first time in Malaysia, the CR-V is now offered with two hybrid variants, effectively making electrification more accessible to a wider range of buyers. Prices start from RM178,200 (on-the-road, without insurance).
2026 Honda CR-V Malaysia Pricing
- CR-V 2.0L e:HEV E – RM178,200
- CR-V 1.5L V AWD – RM181,900
- CR-V 2.0L e:HEV RS – RM195,900
With the discontinuation of the petrol S variant, the new entry point is now a hybrid. That alone signals Honda Malaysia’s clear push towards expanding its e:HEV footprint locally.

Hybrid Power Now Takes Centre Stage
The biggest headline here is the introduction of the e:HEV E variant. Previously, hybrid power was reserved only for the flagship RS. Now, buyers can enter CR-V ownership with electrification from day one.
Both hybrid variants are powered by Honda’s 2.0-litre Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) system, pairing:
- 2.0L Atkinson-cycle engine: 148 hp / 190 Nm
- Electric motor: 184 hp / 335 Nm
The system intelligently switches between EV Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Drive depending on driving conditions. Performance figures remain strong for a family SUV:
- 0–100 km/h: 8.9 seconds
- Top speed: 185 km/h
- Fuel consumption: 5.0L/100 km
This setup continues to prioritise smoothness and efficiency, delivering that near-EV-like driving refinement in urban traffic, something increasingly important for Malaysian commuters.
Turbo Option Still Available for AWD Fans
For those who prefer a more conventional petrol setup, the 1.5L V AWD remains in the line-up.
- 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder
- 193 hp / 243 Nm
- CVT with all-wheel drive
- 0–100 km/h in 10 seconds
- Fuel consumption: 7.5L/100 km
It’s the only AWD variant in the range, catering to buyers who prioritise added traction and a more traditional driving feel.

Subtle Exterior Tweaks, New Colour Option
Visually, the update is evolutionary rather than revolutionary.
A new Blazing Red Pearl colour joins the palette, alongside Canyon River Blue Metallic, Platinum White Pearl and Meteoroid Grey Metallic.
Wheel designs now differ by variant:
- Hybrid variants: 18-inch Berlina Black alloys
- Turbo V AWD: 18-inch Sparkle Silver alloys
All variants now come standard with Honda-authorised Solar and Security tint by Ecotint.
The RS variant adds blacked-out exterior elements and active cornering lights for a sportier presence.

Cabin Tech Upgrades: Digital Key & Google Built-In
Inside is where the meaningful upgrades continue.
All variants now receive:
- 9-inch Advanced Display Audio
- Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
- Google Audio Services integration (Google Assistant, Google Maps, Google Play apps)
- New Digital Key via Honda Connect

Owners can now:
- Lock/unlock the car via smartphone
- Start the engine remotely
- Close windows remotely
- Operate the powered tailgate via the app

The RS variant further distinguishes itself with:
- Darker hairline dashboard finish
- RS-embossed seats
- 12-speaker Bose sound system
- Sport pedals

Meanwhile, the V AWD gains a larger 10.2-inch TFT meter and ambient lighting.
LaneWatch Out, BSI In
One of the most significant updates is the replacement of Honda’s LaneWatch system.
The CR-V now features:
- Blind Spot Information (BSI)
- Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM)
These additions bring the CR-V more in line with segment expectations and enhance overall safety confidence.
The Honda Sensing suite remains standard across all variants, including:
- Adaptive Cruise Control (with Low-Speed Follow)
- Collision Mitigation Braking System
- Lane Keep Assist
- Road Departure Mitigation
- Forward Collision Warning
- Driver Attention Monitor
- TPMS
A Strategic Shift, Not Just a Minor Update
This 2026 refresh isn’t about dramatic styling changes. Instead, it represents a strategic repositioning.
By making hybrid the entry point, Honda Malaysia is:
- Lowering the barrier to electrified ownership
- Expanding its hybrid presence
- Keeping the CR-V competitive in the C-SUV segment
For buyers cross-shopping models like the Mazda CX-5, Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid or Subaru Forester, the CR-V now presents a stronger electrified proposition without forcing customers into the top-spec variant.
Ownership & Warranty
- 5-year unlimited mileage warranty
- 5 free labour services within 5 years / 100,000 km
- 8-year unlimited mileage warranty for hybrid battery

Final Thoughts
The 2026 CR-V may look familiar, but its repositioning tells a bigger story.
Hybrid is no longer the premium choice but it’s the starting point.
For Malaysian buyers who have been considering electrification but weren’t ready to jump fully into EV territory, this could be the sweet spot.
And that’s what makes this update more important than it first appears.
