2026 Xpeng P7+ goes global with BEV and EREV options — Malaysia in the picture?

Xpeng has officially revealed the 2026-updated P7+, confirming that the model will be positioned as a global offering across 36 countries. Available in both battery electric (BEV) and extended-range electric (EREV) variants, the updated P7+ arrives with more than 104 upgrades, reinforcing Xpeng’s push into international markets with long-range, tech-heavy electric vehicles.

Sitting below the newer second-generation P7, the P7+ is a larger and more cost-accessible evolution of the P7i, itself a refreshed first-generation P7. Despite the confusing naming, the P7+ clearly targets buyers looking for generous space, long driving range and premium technology without stepping into flagship pricing.

For the BEV version, Xpeng introduces an 800V electrical architecture, enabling ultra-fast 5C charging on higher trims. Under optimal conditions, the battery can be charged from 30% to 80% in just 12 minutes. Two power outputs are offered — 245 PS or 313 PS — paired with 61.7 kWh or 74.9 kWh LFP batteries, delivering a maximum CLTC-rated range of up to 725 km.

The highlight of the update is the introduction of the EREV variant, which combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine (acting solely as a generator) with a 245 PS electric motor and a 49.2 kWh battery. Xpeng claims a 430 km pure electric CLTC range, said to be the longest among EREV sedans globally, while total combined range reaches a remarkable 1,550 km, with a top speed of 200 km/h.

In terms of size, the updated P7+ measures 5,071 mm long, 1,937 mm wide and 1,512 mm tall, riding on a 3,000 mm wheelbase. This makes it a true mid-to-large sedan, with length increased by 15 mm over the previous model to improve cabin space.

Visually, the 2026 update can be identified by a new single-piece LED light bar at the front, replacing the earlier segmented design, along with new 20-inch Y-shaped alloy wheels. The front bumper now integrates an active air intake and chrome splitter, while the rear receives a sharper look with a new tailgate design and full-width trapezoidal tail lamps that encircle the XPENG lettering.

Inside, the P7+ continues Xpeng’s minimalist, tech-forward approach. A new 29-inch augmented reality head-up display allows the digital instrument cluster to be reduced to 8.8 inches, while the 15.6-inch central touchscreen, centre console and steering wheel are carried over. The cabin also features a 20-speaker audio system, hidden side air vents, an electrically operated glovebox, zero-gravity front passenger seat, soft-close doors, active noise cancellation and microfibre headlining.

At the top end, the P7+ is equipped with three Turing AI chips, delivering a combined 2,250 TOPS of computing power, enabling advanced driver assistance features such as navigation-assisted autopilot for both urban and highway driving.

With Xpeng confirming the P7+ as a global model, the question now is whether Malaysia will be among the 36 markets. The brand has already announced plans to locally assemble (CKD) models such as the G6 SUV, X9 MPV, and X9 PowerX EREV, along with rights to assemble three additional future models. While these are widely speculated to be SUVs, there remains hope that the P7+ could be included, especially given Malaysia’s growing appetite for long-range EVs and range-extender technology.

For now, official confirmation is still pending — but with its combination of class-leading range, fast charging and advanced technology, the 2026 Xpeng P7+ certainly looks like a strong candidate for Malaysian roads.
