MINI 1965 Victory Edition Debuts in Malaysia – A Rally Legend Reimagined in Electric Form

Few names in automotive history carry the same charm and underdog spirit as MINI. Now, that legacy returns to the spotlight in a bold, electrified form with the introduction of the MINI 1965 Victory Edition in Malaysia, a model that doesn’t just celebrate history, but reinterprets it for a new era.

A Tribute to a Legendary Win

The 1965 Victory Edition pays homage to one of the most iconic moments in motorsport, the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally victory, where the classic Mini Cooper S, driven by Timo Mäkinen and co-driven by Paul Easter, stunned the world.

Defying larger and more powerful competitors, the Mini proved that agility, engineering, and determination could triumph over brute force, a philosophy that continues to define MINI today.

Electrified Performance with JCW DNA

Bridging heritage with innovation, this special edition is based on the all-electric MINI John Cooper Works E, delivering performance that lives up to its motorsport roots.

Under the hood (or rather, beneath the floor), it features:

  • 49.2 kWh usable battery (54.2 kWh gross)
  • Front-mounted electric motor producing 258 PS and 350 Nm
  • 0–100 km/h in 5.9 seconds
  • Top speed of 200 km/h
  • WLTP range of up to 371 km

Charging is equally competitive:

  • AC charging: up to 11 kW (0–100% in ~5 hours 15 minutes)
  • DC fast charging: up to 95 kW (10–80% in ~30 minutes)

Designed to Stand Out

While the performance figures remain unchanged, the 1965 Victory Edition sets itself apart through exclusive design elements that echo its racing inspiration.

The Chili Red exterior immediately captures attention, complemented by:

  • A bold white racing stripe running from bonnet to rear
  • White roof finish for a classic motorsport look
  • Iconic ‘52’ race number decals, referencing the original winning car
  • Subtle ‘1965’ badges on the C-pillars
  • Unique 18-inch JCW Mastery Spoke wheels in black

These details collectively transform the car into a moving tribute, unmistakable on the road and deeply rooted in MINI’s heritage.

Interior: Where Heritage Meets Modern Sportiness

Step inside, and the storytelling continues. The cabin is dressed in a JCW anthracite and red theme, reinforcing its performance identity.

Highlights include:

  • Commemorative door sills marking the 1965 victory
  • ‘1965’ lettering on the steering wheel and centre console
  • Exclusive key fob featuring the #52 race number

Every touchpoint reminds drivers they’re not just in a car, they’re part of a legacy.

Pricing and Ownership

The MINI 1965 Victory Edition is priced at:

  • RM230,888 (on-the-road, without insurance)
  • RM237,188 with MINI Service and Repair Inclusive (MSRI)

The MSRI package extends:

  • Warranty to 4 years
  • Includes a 4-year service package

This places the special edition at a RM12,000 premium over the standard JCW E, a price justified by its exclusivity and heritage-driven design.
