Kineta achieves second successive win at the 5th Asia Automotive Awards

KINETA, a subsidiary of Sime, has won the Automotive Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Award for the second consecutive year at the fifth Asia Automotive Awards, held recently in Bangkok on 17 January 2026. The award, the company says, recognises its efforts in sustainability and environmental initiatives, particularly in Malaysia and Hong Kong.

The company is now a leading public Charge Point Operator (CPO) in Hong Kong with over 127 bays currently. Back home, Kineta has evolved to more than just a traditional CPO, as it also provides end-to-end technical support, including hardware, ST-certified installations, and the ‘Kineta Charge’ App, tailored for diverse industries and corporate fleet management.

The company has sold over 14,000 chargers and completed 10,000 professional installations across residential and commercial projects. With one of the region’s largest engineering teams, Kineta connects hardware manufacturers with end-users throughout Southeast Asia.

Kineta has become a trusted and reputable house-hold brand, working closely with most of the OEM EV brands. As the market shifts toward locally assembled (CKD) EVs in 2026, Kineta is ready to provide essential service network and safety standards required for mass-market adoption.

Kineta Managing Director, Sunny Lee, said, “This achievement validates our strategic shift towards becoming a total solutions enabler. In an industry that is rapidly maturing, Kineta’s role is to provide the engineering excellence and infrastructure reliability that the automotive and other industry ecosystem[s] demands. We aren’t just part of the transition; we are the technical partner making it possible.”

Kineta now offers certified installation services for all major EV charger brands, including those not sold by the company. Available in Penang, Perak, the Klang Valley, Selangor, Johor Bahru, Pahang, Sibu, Kuching, and Kota Kinabalu, the service applies to AC and DC chargers from manufacturers such as ZD Energy, Wallbox, Joint, and Sino.

All installations are carried out by Suruhanjaya Tenaga-certified wiremen and chargemen using SIRIM-certified components to ensure national safety standards.
