Zeekr 9X Confirmed for Malaysia: China’s ‘RR Cullinan’ Set to Arrive End-2026 / Early 2027

Zeekr’s most ambitious SUV yet is heading our way, and it’s shaping up to be the brand’s boldest statement in luxury, performance and technology.

A New Flagship on the Horizon

Zeekr has officially confirmed that its flagship SUV, the Zeekr 9X, will be making its way to Malaysia, with a projected arrival timeline of end-2026 or early 2027. The confirmation came directly from Eddy Lu, General Manager of Zeekr Malaysia, during an exclusive winter test drive event in Harbin, China, attended by Malaysian media and Zeekr owners.

While the spotlight was firmly on the 9X, the event also featured other key models such as the Zeekr 007 GT and Zeekr 7X, underscoring the brand’s growing and increasingly diverse global lineup.

‘Definitely Coming’ But Engineering Takes Time

“The Zeekr 9X is definitely coming to Malaysia, for sure, it’s just a matter of time,” Lu stated, emphasising that the remaining variables are right-hand drive (RHD) engineering and homologation requirements.

He explained that the transition from left-hand drive (LHD) to RHD, along with adapting the vehicle from Chinese to European regulations (which Malaysia follows), will ultimately determine the final launch window.

Importantly, Lu also confirmed that the 9X for Malaysia will be offered as a hybrid, not a range-extender EV (REEV), aligning with its positioning as a high-performance luxury SUV.

Luxury With Serious Muscle

The Zeekr 9X isn’t just a flagship for the brand, it also represents the pinnacle of engineering within the wider Geely Group. Built on the SEA-S platform, the SUV features a 900V high-voltage electrical architecture, enabling ultra-fast charging and exceptional performance.

Debuting the SEA Super Hybrid system, the 9X delivers a staggering up to 1,400 PS (1,030 kW) and 1,410 Nm of torque, allowing the massive SUV to sprint from 0–100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds, figures that rival high-performance sports cars.

Power comes from a combination of electric motors and a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 279 PS, while the system offers a pure electric driving range of up to 380 km (CLTC).

Ultra-fast charging is another highlight, with 20–80% battery replenishment achievable in just 8.5 minutes.

Pricing Reality: Expect a Big Number

With such positioning, performance and technology, it’s no surprise that the Zeekr 9X will command a significantly higher price than any Zeekr currently on sale in Malaysia.

Lu was candid about expectations, making it clear that the 9X will sit well above the range-topping Zeekr 009 Ultra Luxury, which is currently priced at RM359,800.

“In China, the 9X is priced between RMB 465,900 and RMB 599,900, and this is a hybrid,” Lu explained. “A hybrid CBU will be applied with very high taxes. There’s no way for it to be a low-priced product.”

In short, Malaysian buyers should expect the Zeekr 9X to comfortably exceed the 009’s price point, reflecting its flagship status and the realities of import duties.

More Details to Come

While full local specifications and final pricing remain under wraps, Zeekr Malaysia has indicated that more concrete details will be shared once the launch plan is finalised, potentially later this year.

Until then, one thing is certain: when it arrives, the Zeekr 9X will not only be the brand’s most expensive model in Malaysia, but also one of the most technologically advanced and powerful luxury SUVs in its segment.

For those seeking a statement SUV that blends cutting-edge electrification with uncompromising luxury, the Zeekr 9X is shaping up to be well worth the wait.
