Chery Malaysia Surpasses 30,000 Sales Milestone in Less Than Three Years

Kuala Lumpur, January 2026 — Chery Malaysia has achieved a significant milestone, recording cumulative sales of 30,073 vehicles since its re-entry into the Malaysian market in mid-2023. The achievement underscores the brand’s rapid growth trajectory and its successful transition from a value-focused marque to a competitive mainstream automotive player.
In 2025 alone, Chery delivered 12,930 units, averaging more than 1,000 vehicles per month, a strong performance in an increasingly competitive and electrified market landscape.
A Rapid Rise Since Re-Entry
Chery’s Malaysian resurgence began in July 2023 with the launch of the Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro, both internal combustion engine (ICE) models that laid the foundation for the brand’s comeback. Within its first six months, Chery delivered 4,501 vehicles, signalling early consumer confidence and setting the pace for sustained growth.
This momentum continued through 2024 and 2025 as Chery steadily expanded its portfolio, strengthened its dealer network and increased brand visibility nationwide.

Expanding Product Line-Up for a Changing Market
Chery’s product strategy in Malaysia closely mirrors global trends, evolving rapidly from ICE offerings to electrified mobility solutions. The brand marked its entry into the electric vehicle segment in March 2024 with the launch of the Omoda E5, introducing Malaysians to Chery’s all-electric capabilities.
The Tiggo series subsequently became the backbone of the brand’s local portfolio. Initially introduced with ICE variants, the range expanded to include hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) options, powered by Chery’s proprietary Super Hybrid (CSH) technology. Today, the Tiggo lineup comprises six models, catering to a wide spectrum of customer needs — from urban drivers to growing families.
Notable additions over the past two years include the Tiggo 7 Pro, Tiggo Cross, O5 (facelifted Omoda 5), as well as the recently launched Tiggo 7 PHEV and Tiggo 8 PHEV, reflecting Chery’s push toward new energy vehicles amid shifting consumer preferences.

Community Engagement Beyond the Showroom
Beyond sales figures, Chery Malaysia has demonstrated a strong commitment to community support and national development. Following the Putra Heights gas-line explosion in Selangor, the company provided loan vehicles to 50 affected families, enabling them to manage daily transportation needs during a challenging period.
The brand is also actively involved in national initiatives, including support for the National Sports Trust Fund (KWASN) in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Chery’s participation in events such as the Asian Youth Para Games and the Paris Olympic Games reflects its dedication to inclusivity and athlete development.
In addition, Chery Malaysia’s involvement in the Belia Mahir Project highlights its focus on workforce development, offering graduates opportunities to gain hands-on experience within the automotive industry.

Strengthening Local Manufacturing Capabilities
Looking ahead, Chery Malaysia is set to play a larger role in local manufacturing with the development of the Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park in Lembah Beringin, Selangor. The RM2.2 billion, 200-acre facility is designed to enhance localisation, expand production capacity and generate economic opportunities.
The first phase of the industrial park is scheduled for completion in the first half of 2026, with an initial targeted production capacity of 100,000 units annually. The facility is expected to support Chery’s long-term growth plans in Malaysia while strengthening the country’s position as a regional automotive hub.

Backed by Strong Global Performance
On the global stage, Chery Group closed 2025 with total sales of 2.806 million vehicles, including 1.344 million units exported, maintaining its position as China’s leading automotive exporter. The group’s performance was driven by continued investment in conventional and new energy vehicles, technological innovation and international expansion.
Chery’s growing international profile was further reinforced by its Fortune Global 500 ranking of 233 and its successful listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, positioning the brand for sustained global growth.
A Steady Road Ahead
As Chery Malaysia enters 2026, the brand’s focus remains on sustainable growth, electrification and deeper integration into the local automotive ecosystem. With a broadened product lineup, expanding manufacturing footprint and continued community engagement, Chery appears well-positioned to build on its momentum and strengthen its presence in the Malaysian market.
From its swift resurgence to its forward-looking investments, Chery Malaysia’s journey over the past three years reflects a brand steadily redefining its role — not just as a carmaker, but as an active contributor to the industry and society at large.
