Leapmotor Marks 10 Years with D99 MPV Debut, Strengthening Its D-Series Flagship Lineup
Leapmotor has officially entered the MPV segment with the unveiling of the Leapmotor D99, revealed during the company’s 10th anniversary celebration in Hangzhou. As Leapmotor’s first-ever MPV, the D99 represents a major milestone for the Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) brand and joins the D19 SUV as a flagship model under the newly established D-series.
Scheduled for official launch and delivery in April 2026, the D99 reflects Leapmotor’s ambition to move further upmarket, combining large proportions, advanced electrification, and high-level intelligent driving technology.
A Flagship MPV with Confident Proportions

As a full-size MPV, the Leapmotor D99 measures 5,200 mm in length, just under 2,000 mm in width, and rides on a 3,100 mm wheelbase, placing it firmly in the same size category as premium electric MPVs like the Zeekr 009. Its dimensions translate into generous cabin space, particularly for second- and third-row occupants.
The D99 adopts Leapmotor’s latest design language, shared with the D19 SUV. The front fascia features three-segment daytime running lights with split headlamps positioned lower in the bumper. An active air intake grille enhances aerodynamic efficiency, while the sculpted hood and upright stance give the MPV a strong road presence.
Premium Design Details with a Futuristic Touch

From the side, the D99 showcases a dynamic yet clean profile, highlighted by a sharply angled A-pillar and triangular quarter windows that visually connect the roofline. Concealed sliding door rails maintain a sleek appearance while ensuring easy access for passengers.
The MPV rides on 19-inch monoblock “Aspiration” alloy wheels, paired with Michelin silent tires, reinforcing its premium positioning. Silver trim along the window line adds to the refined, upmarket aesthetic.

At the rear, the D99 features a full-width interactive taillight display, capable of supporting multiple lighting patterns. The upright tailgate design not only enhances visual solidity but also maximizes cargo capacity and third-row headroom. Chrome accents and neatly integrated cameras in the spoiler and license plate area further elevate the premium feel.
Interior Yet to Be Revealed, But Expectations Are High
While Leapmotor has only revealed the exterior design of the D99 so far, the brand has confirmed that the MPV’s cabin will be unveiled at a later stage. Expectations are that it will closely follow the futuristic, technology-focused interior of the D19, which is offered in six- and seven-seat layouts.
Given its flagship status, the D99 is expected to emphasize comfort, digital displays, and intelligent connectivity, catering to both family and executive users.
Dual Powertrain Strategy: BEV and EREV
Leapmotor has confirmed that the D99 will be offered with two electrified powertrain options:
- Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV)
- Built on a 1,000V high-voltage architecture
- Equipped with a 115 kWh CATL battery pack
- Designed for fast charging and long-distance usability
- Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV)
- Features an 80.3 kWh battery pack
- Supports rapid charging, with 30% to 80% charging achievable in just 15 minutes on its 800V platform
- Leapmotor claims this version delivers the longest pure-electric range of any EREV MPV globally
This dual approach allows Leapmotor to cater to markets with different charging infrastructures and customer preferences.
Advanced Safety and Intelligent Driving Technology
The D99 is equipped with a smart driving system powered by two Qualcomm Snapdragon 8797 processors, delivering a combined 1,280 TOPS of computing power. This setup supports advanced driver assistance features and VLA (Visual-Language-Action) large language models.
Additional highlights include:
- Dual-wheel puncture stability system
- Body torsional stiffness rated at 46,682 Nm/deg
- Roof-mounted laser radar (LiDAR) for enhanced perception
Leapmotor’s Rapid Growth and Ambitious Future
The unveiling of the D99 comes at a time of strong momentum for Leapmotor. The company recorded 70,327 vehicle sales in November alone, with annual sales nearing 600,000 units in 2025. Leapmotor is also on track to achieve annual profitability, a notable milestone in the competitive NEV space.
Looking ahead, Leapmotor has set a bold target of one million vehicles sold in 2026, supported by its expanding product lineup and growing global footprint across 35 overseas markets, where international deliveries are expected to exceed 60,000 units.
A New Chapter for Leapmotor
With the D99 MPV joining the D19 SUV, Leapmotor’s D-series now represents the brand’s highest expression of size, technology, and ambition. As the company celebrates a decade of growth, the D99 signals a confident step into the premium MPV segment — and a clear statement of where Leapmotor is headed next.
The Leapmotor D99 and D19 are both scheduled to launch officially in April 2026, marking the beginning of a new flagship era for the brand.
