All-new Perodua Traz SUV launched from RM76,100

KUALA LUMPUR: Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) has officially expanded its SUV portfolio with the launch of the all-new Perodua Traz, a five-seater urban SUV priced from RM76,100 to RM82,000 on-the-road without insurance. Positioned between the Ativa and Aruz, the Traz is aimed squarely at urban drivers and young families seeking everyday practicality, efficiency and modern safety features.

A new niche in Perodua’s SUV ecosystem

Perodua president and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad said the Traz is expected to establish its own niche within the local market, with projected sales of around 1,900 units per month starting January.

“This month, deliveries will be capped at about 1,000 units. From January onwards, we expect deliveries to reach 1,900 units per month,” he said at the launch.

The Traz complements Perodua’s broader product ecosystem, which spans from entry-level models to A- and B-segment SUVs, and even electrified offerings. According to Zainal, the introduction of the Traz completes Perodua’s current line-up in terms of pricing and positioning.

Locally developed, locally built

Developed at a project cost of RM563.3 million, the Perodua Traz is produced at Perodua Manufacturing Sdn Bhd’s Sungai Choh plant in Rawang, with an impressive 95% local content.

“Most of the development involves local content, and with this model we are further contributing to local employment and industry participation,” Zainal said.

Perodua also expects its local procurement value to exceed RM11 billion this year, with the figure forecast to grow beyond RM11.5 billion in the coming years, supported by the introduction of the Traz. The company believes the new SUV will have a positive ripple effect across Malaysia’s automotive ecosystem.

Design and dimensions: Urban-ready with SUV confidence

Styled with a more crossover-like appearance, the Traz features full LED headlamps with follow-me-home and leaving-home functions, LED rear combination lamps and a rear spoiler with an integrated LED third brake light.

Sharing its underpinnings with the Toyota Yaris Cross, the Traz measures 4,310mm in length, 1,770mm in width and 1,655mm in height, riding on a 2,620mm wheelbase. A 210mm ground clearance gives drivers added confidence over rough roads and lightly flooded stretches, a practical consideration for Malaysian conditions.

Powertrain and efficiency

Under the bonnet, the Perodua Traz is powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder DOHC petrol engine producing 78kW (105hp) and 138Nm of torque, paired with a D-CVT transmission. Drivers can choose between Eco, Normal and Power drive modes to suit different driving needs.

Fuel efficiency is rated at an impressive 21.3km per litre, based on the Malaysia Driving Cycle (MDC), reinforcing the Traz’s role as an economical daily urban SUV.

Interior and technology highlights

Inside, the Traz is designed to be Perodua’s most user-friendly vehicle to date, carrying the tagline “Engineered Simply.” Standard features across the range include a 9-inch touchscreen multimedia display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay readiness, a 4.2-inch TFT instrument cluster, push-start button and multiple charging points.

Front occupants get one Type-A and one Type-C USB port, while rear passengers are provided with two Type-C ports and rear air-conditioning vents, enhancing comfort for family use.

Safety comes standard

The Perodua Traz has achieved a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating and comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety features. Standard equipment includes six airbags, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), all-round disc brakes and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Advanced driver assistance systems available across both variants include Pre-Collision Warning, Pre-Collision Assist Brake for vehicles and pedestrians, Front Departure Alert, Pedal Misoperation Control, Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, reverse camera and parking sensors.

The higher-spec H variant adds premium touches such as 360-degree panoramic view monitor, hill hold assist, leather steering wheel and shift knob, power tailgate with kick sensor, auto air-conditioning and an integrated digital video recorder.

Variants, colours and accessories

The Perodua Traz is offered in two variants: X (RM76,100) and H (RM82,000). Buyers can choose from five exterior colours: Cranberry Red, Electric Blue with Black Roof, Glittering Silver, Ivory White and Granite Grey.

Owners can further personalise their vehicles with Perodua GearUp accessories, including bodykits, leather upholstery, interior illumination and wireless smartphone charging.

Deliveries begin immediately

Perodua has confirmed that deliveries will begin immediately in Peninsular Malaysia, with the Traz expected to contribute positively to the brand’s vehicle registration numbers from 2026 onwards. With its competitive pricing, strong safety credentials and local development story, the Perodua Traz enters the market as a compelling new choice in Malaysia’s fast-growing urban SUV segment.
