AWAS Camera Calibration Tonight on North–South Expressway (Nilai–Seremban), 11pm–3am

PLUS Malaysia has announced that calibration works for the Automated Awareness Safety System (AWAS) cameras will take place tonight, November 25, on the North–South Expressway (NSE). The exercise will be carried out at KM265.3 southbound, between Nilai and Seremban, from 11pm to 3am.

Motorists travelling through the area are advised to follow all traffic signs and instructions issued by PLUS personnel to ensure safety during the calibration process.

The AWAS system recently underwent a hardware upgrade in August 2024. Earlier this year, transport minister Anthony Loke explained that the enhanced point-to-point camera system aims to deter drivers from slowing down only at camera locations.

“We don’t want drivers to slow down just in front of the camera, but within a certain distance. If the travel time between point A and point B is shorter than it should be, it indicates speeding and action will be taken,” he said.

The upgraded system is part of the government’s wider initiative to improve road safety and ensure more consistent speed compliance along major highways.
