IMPAK MAKSIMA 2: RISE OF THE STREET LEGENDS

With a massive RM3 million production budget, Impak Maksima 2 officially ranks as one of the most expensive automotive films ever produced in Malaysia. A single action sequence—featuring a high-speed drift crash, a delivery truck, and fire—cost RM200,000 and took weeks of planning. Every screech, crash, and explosion you see on screen is real.

“We didn’t use CGI for the stunts. We wanted authenticity—what you see is what actually happened on set,” said director Dr. Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nadzri, who also directed the original 2007 hit.

More than 1,000 vehicles were featured during filming, with scenes shot in high-traffic zones like Bukit Bintang, Johor Bahru, and Melaka—all secured through partnerships with DBKL, PDRM, and private sponsors.

PLOT: SPEED, RIVALRY & REDEMPTION
The story centers around Rudy (Arfie Shah), a reformed street racer trying to leave his past behind. Under the mentorship of Abang Joe (Eizlan Yusof), he builds a new life in the world of legal motorsports. But when a mysterious ex-racer named Ray (Zul Huzaimy) lures Rudy back into Malaysia’s underground drift scene, old wounds and new rivalries flare up.

Caught in the middle are his best friends Gia (Nelissa Nizam) and Rio (Muhsin Nadzli), whose loyalty—and love—are tested on and off the track.

BEHIND THE SCENES: VIRAL BUZZ & INTERNATIONAL AMBITION

Dr. Ahmad Idham’s production team went all out—not just on the road, but online. Behind-the-scenes footage and teaser clips on TikTok and Instagram have already amassed over 9 million views, with fans praising the realism of the car scenes and nostalgic return of beloved characters.

The director has hinted at international ambitions, with discussions already in motion for Impak Maksima 3, possibly shot in Thailand with Southeast Asian drivers.

“This is more than a sequel—it’s a movement to put Malaysian action cinema on the world stage,” said Idham.
